Stewardship Committee –

Transformed Giving

As your new Stewardship Committee Chairperson, let me take a moment to say hello and tell you I feel so new!  I have been a member of First United Methodist Church for 4 ½ years; I have attended Sunday school, bought pumpkins, made my pledges, met friends, loved the music, . . . but this year I am a Committee Chairperson!  I will attempt to transform our Church with my prayers, my presence, my gifts, and my service.  Wow.  What does that mean?  How can my support and involvement transform our Church?  By Transformed Giving:

· being a steward of God’s word – by sharing the news, being an example, and being active and regular in our church.

· being a steward of my time – by examining how I spend my time, setting goals and making a plan so that I spend time on what is important to me,

· being a steward of my finances, by using my resources wisely, being content with what I have, giving honestly, regularly and joyfully.

· being a steward of my talents – by developing my talents, rejoicing in them, and using them to improve the lives of others.

I pray I can transform and be a steward of my life.  Would you please join me?

Blessings from the Stewardship Committee,

Jenny Hundt, Chair

Attitudes

God is more interested in your attitude about giving, not in the amount of your giving.

Perspective

Realize everything you have comes from God.

Priorities

Giving a portion to God, first, reflects on an attitude that God has priority.

Privilege

When we understand what God has done for us, we will consider it a privilege to help others.  God is not standing in line with His hand outstretched.  He wants you to respond and come to Him on your own.  Being willing to put something in His hand often reveals what is in our heart.

Do you live your life as an

eight-day week?

Most people live their lives by an eight day week.  They have Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Saturday, Sunday and Someday.

Many people plan to do noble things – Someday.

Christian Stewardship is the practice of systematic and proportionate giving of time, abilities and material possessions.  Such giving is based on the conviction that these gifts are a trust from God to be used in God’s service for the benefit of all humankind in grateful acknowledgement of Christ’s redeeming love.
